  1. The mother of all blades… 5 Star Review

Posted by on 31st Jul 2017

I have possessed a Nepalese Kukri in the past and was truly impressed by its versatility… but my new Hyena Brown RMJ Kukri literally blew all my expectations! Having used one of their excellent Shrike Tomahawks for a little while now, I knew I would not be disappointed with my new acquisition. The geometry, the curves, and the overall design of the Kukri truly convey the feeling that this blade is rock solid and that it would not fail, even in the worst situations.

To begin with, even though the blade is massive and thick, the Kukri is very well balanced and it’s pretty easy to recover after a strike. Additionally, the grip provided by the G10 handle is terrific! Your hand is not going to slip on the blade by accident when thrusting.

Secondly, the edge of this blade is razor sharp! So much so that you can literally shave with it. When cutting or slashing through vegetation, meat or anything you can think of, the perfect geometry of the blade allows you to obtain a clean cut without any effort. And speaking about effort, the blade has quite some weight to it, which greatly enhances the effectiveness of this blade. If you need a cleaver for cooking… look no further. This will definitely get the job done. It’s also perfect to process some wood when starting a fire (although a tomahawk or an axe can probably be more convenient), and works pretty good as a machete. I principally use it as a tool, but I’m sure it would also make a terrific weapon.

Finally, I decided to go with the leather sheath… and I don’t regret it. As expected from RMJ, it is a very high quality sheath (the best leather sheath I’ve ever possessed) which, in my opinion, brings an extra dimension to this tool/weapon. It almost acts as a reminder of the history behind this legendary blade. Glad they offer the option to get the leather sheath.

This is now my perfect companion when I go wild camping since I know it will never fail and that I can put it through a lot of abuse. Thank you RMJ Tactical for the good work!

  2. Look no further... 5 Star Review

I searched for a kukri for a long time - when I saw that RMJ made one - I did not hesitate. This thing is a beautiful fusion of old world shape / simplicity, matched with modern materials and manufacturing, perfect craftsmanship and a beautifully polished edge. The edge is a work of art. Razors wish they were as sharp as this thing. This knife is a very solid "one blade option" for a survival kit. It's part knife, part axe, part machete, part killer, part savior. I really do love this blade.

The kydex sheath features friction fit and snap strap retention whereas the leather sheath is snap strap retention only. I bought both sheaths to have options and a backup.

Trust RMJ - their products are top of the line.
I bought a Shrike in 2010 and I've had this kukri since late 2016 - I love it. Love my Shrike too - but that's a whole other subject.

Please keep up the great work, RMJ - your tools are amazing. If things were to go sideways - in the city, the woods, or anywhere in between, I'd reach for my RMJ blade first.

  3. Tactically Effective 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Mar 2017

I use the Kukri as part of my kit for tactical operations and training. Our school is for combat and tactical K9 trackers and it is crucial that the equipment we use not only be tactically effective but incredibly tough and easy to use. We often work in very difficult terrain and over many miles in a single operation. I have had many Kukris in the past and though all of them have been good, none have been great. That changed with RMJ knife. from the design to the edge and all the way to the sheaths, everything about this knife is form following function and that is what a great weapon is truly about. Amazing work on this Kukri. Truly the best of the best.

  4. This thing is great 5 Star Review

Been a huge fan of khukri's for a long time with several HI ones in the corral. This thing works. If you've never used one getting used to it takes a little work but it out chops any other knives. plus the leather sheath is very nice looking and functional.
