Goes great with the Patriot!
The Patriot pipe tomahawk is a mix of history along with new and old school manufacturing techniques to create an incredible, working tomahawk. Ryan Johnson's historical knowledge and distinct design philosophy, makes for a heck of a foundation. The authentic style head is investment cast from 6150 tool steel, and finished with a gorgeous, dark patina. The 19" ash handles are made on a 1904 Defiance lathe that was purpose built for the Rock Island Arsenal to produce Springfield 1903 Rifles. Nothing is as cool as making handles on a 120 year old Defiance gun stock lathe! If you do smoke it, the handle has a threaded 17-4 stainless steel clean out plug. Due to amount of hand work that goes into these, there is a variance in the patina on the head, the overall handle length can vary a bit, and the amount of handle that protrudes through the head will also vary from the pictures.
The Patriot is not just a conversation piece, it can be used for camp chores like splitting wood, and you can have some fun throwing it, and smoking it.
Patriots are made from carbon tool steel and will rust if not cared for, or if they spend time in a humid environment. We suggest wiping the head down with mineral oil, or any of your favorite, modern rust preventatives.
Each Patriot comes with a leather edge cover, bowl screen, and a pocket size US Constitution.

The Tomahawk: A Versatile Tool and Weapon
According to Ryan Johnson, the tomahawk is an "old, old design that has stood the test of time." Its longevity stems from its remarkable versatility and adaptability. Historically, the tomahawk was a multi-purpose tool crucial for survival and daily life. It served as a cutting and chopping tool for wood, a practical implement for various chores, and a formidable weapon in close-quarters combat.
Johnson highlights a key feature of traditional tomahawk design: the ease with which the head could be removed from the handle...
